Match 

on a bitterly cold afternoon we kicked off our 100th year against fellow centurions Rhymney Gwent. A few drop outs left us searching for the right combinations with the selectors eyes obviously looking at giving a few members experience.

On rink 2 we had Andrew Snell, David Wilmot, Jon Norris and Steve Godding up against Noel Tippett. Beaufort lead after five ends by 4-3, the next five ends were equally even with Rhymney leading 9-10. Beaufort then lead 16-12 at fifteen ends and held on for a 16-15 victory.

Rink 3 saw Alistair Rosser, Neville Mistry, Mike Wilcox and Tony Seavill take on James Davies. Again after five ends the home side lead 4-3, at ten ends it was 9-9, after 15 ends the home team opened up a 18-11 lead and went on to win 23-15.

Rink 4 was Karl Poynter, Denis Lewis, Mike Perkins and Les Flowers who were up against the rink skipped by Colin Clabby. Early exchanges favoured the away team and they lead 2-7 after five, maintaining their lead 5-13 after ten, the home side recovered a little to record 11-15 after fifteen and ended 14-16, a narrow defeat.

Rink 5 was Sam Godding, Steve Jones, Gethin Hill and Chris Denby up against Mathew Wilde, another tense first five saw the home side lead 5-3, the away team then came into the game and lead 6-13 at ten, they maintained there advantage in the third quarter to lead 11-17 after fifteen and a spirited fight back left the home team slightly short at 14-17.

overall a great start to our one hundredth season with a 67-63 win, well done guys, let's keep it going.
